South Pacific Project References


The following specialist contracts for theatres, conference halls, TV studios and general audio-visual installations have been completed or are under implementation by Glantre Engineering Ltd in the South Pacific. Unless otherwise indicated, contracts cover detailed design, supply, installation or supervision, commissioning and training. Project listings are in approximate reverse chronological order. In addition to the contracts described, Glantre has carried out several important cruise ship entertainment contracts as well as numerous electrical and mechanical services contracts. Contract values are only shown where amounts exceed £100,000; the listings below are part of 75 such contracts, of which 17 have values in excess of £1 million. The overall value of the 170 listed entertainment projects and separately listed cruise ship projects exceeds £74 million.


Australia

Star City, Show Theatre, Sydney


Elaborate stage and forestage lift systems with sophisticated controls and extensive safety features to the requirements of NSW WorkCover Authority. All four lifts are based on Spiralift mechanisms with fully variable speeds of up to 6m/minute. While load and travel arrangements vary, one forestage lift is of very high capacity (74 tons) to accommodate a full size swimming tank while the upstage lift has a long travel of more than 9m down to lower basement level so that it can also be used for load-in purposes. Capitol Theatre, Sydney


Complete technical systems package for reconstruction and extension for important 2000 seat theatre dating from 1928 under contract to Fletcher Construction Australia for Ipoh Garden Developments (Aust) Pty Ltd and Sydney City Council. Scope of works included 101 single purchase counterweight suspension sets, 4 motorised rigging sets, 24 cable reeling drums, safety curtain, motorised auditorium ceiling traps, sound, communications, stage management systems, an extensive DMX network, distribution equipment and houselight dimming.
